Boyne Hill Cricket Club has launched a crowdfunding campaign aimed at raising £10,000 to help guarantee a sustainable future for the club and ensure it delivers sporting opportunities for generations to come.

The ‘Help the Hill’ campaign is aimed at negating the significant losses brought about by the coronavirus pandemic and improving the coaching and provision for its thriving colts’ section, which currently has 100-plus juniors playing from ages five to 17.

Boyne Hill has a proud 130-year history and runs four teams in the Thames Valley Senior League on Saturdays.

The club’s facilities also serve the wider community with its club house the premises for a local nursery while a variety of events and functions are held there across the year.

“For all of this, however, the coronavirus crisis represents an existential threat,” said club treasurer Mike Powell. “Halting all such functions and denying the club its usual means of raising funds to improve and maintain the cricket and social facilities relied upon by so many.

"The club has already been forced to cancel its hugely popular November fireworks display, which has proved crucial to the club’s survival over the past 25 years."
